Way of the Wilderness has the ideal location to begin your canoe trip. We are at the very end of the Gunflint Trail between two famous lakes: Sea Gull and the Canadian border lake, Saganaga, with access to both right at our door. There are quiet waters in which to begin your trip with shallow bays for beginners or others who wish to familiarize themselves with paddling. The U.S. Forest Service Trails End Campground is right next to us with excellent campsites. Souvenirs, groceries, trail food and fishing tackle can be purchased at our trading post. Overnight accommodations and hot showers are available before and after your trip. Our Trails End Cafe serves three meals a day every day.
Our location actually gives you access to the entire Canoe Country. This is the famous Eastern Gateway to the Quetico Park which can be reached without a portage. Shortly beyond is the Kawnipi Country, a part of the rugged Hunters Island route, called the most scenic in all the Park. Many other circle routes begin here. Routes that can be made using both sides of the border without doubling back. Come... discover the WAY OF THE WILDERNESS.
